Building Model Reconstruction from Point Clouds Derived from Oblique Imagery
نویسنده
چکیده
The increasing availability of high resolution airborne imagery increases the accuracy of building modelling of urban scenes. This high accuracy of building modelling offers a strong reference for disaster recovery and asset evaluation. With the advantage of having more façade information, this thesis builds on previous efforts in building reconstruction from airborne oblique imagery. Based on previous work, this thesis presents two schemes to construct building models from point clouds derived from oblique imagery. With the assumption that buildings are in a cubic-shape, the first scheme consists of three different steps. Plane estimation aims at identifying dominant surfaces; edge extraction helps in detecting and simplifying in-plane edges in each identified surfaces; model construction finishes the job of assembling the surfaces and edges together and producing a model in a universally accepted format. We find this scheme works well with complete point clouds that cover all sides of the building. A second method is proposed to handle

Segmentation and Reconstruction of Buildings with Aerial Oblique Photography Point Clouds
Oblique photography technology as an excellent method for 3-D city model construction has brought itself to large-scale recognition and undeniable high social status. Tilt and vertical images with the high overlaps and different visual angles can produce a large number of dense matching point clouds data with spectral information. This paper presents a method of buildings reconstruction with st...
متن کاملBenchmarking High Density Image Matching for Oblique Airborne Imagery
Both, improvements in camera technology and new pixel-wise matching approaches triggered the further development of software tools for image based 3D reconstruction. Meanwhile research groups as well as commercial vendors provide photogrammetric software to generate dense, reliable and accurate 3D point clouds and Digital Surface Models (DSM) from highly overlapping aerial images. In order to e...
متن کاملFaçade Reconstruction Using Geometric and Radiometric Point Cloud Information
This paper aims at façade reconstruction for subsequent enrichment of LOD2 building models. We use point clouds from dense image matching with imagery both from Mobile Mapping systems and oblique airborne cameras. The interpretation of façade structures is based on a geometric reconstruction. For this purpose a pre-segmentation of the point cloud into façade points and non-façade points is nece...
متن کاملExtracting Semantically Annotated 3d Building Models with Textures from Oblique Aerial Imagery
This paper proposes a method for the reconstruction of city buildings with automatically derived textures that can be directly used for façade element classification. Oblique and nadir aerial imagery recorded by a multi-head camera system is transformed into dense 3D point clouds and evaluated statistically in order to extract the hull of the structures. For the resulting wall, roof and ground ...
متن کاملOblique Multi-camera Systems - Orientation and Dense Matching Issues
The use of oblique imagery has become a standard for many civil and mapping applications, thanks to the development of airborne digital multi-camera systems, as proposed by many companies (Blomoblique, IGI, Leica, Midas, Pictometry, Vexcel/Microsoft, VisionMap, etc.). The indisputable virtue of oblique photography lies in its simplicity of interpretation and understanding for inexperienced user...
